Our New House Construction
07/09/10 - Well, hello again. As you can tell there has been some delay with the foundation process. Kimmel Construction came in and got the footers poured and then were off of the job for about a week and half. However, they are back on the job putting up forms and pouring concrete. Concrete for the foundation walls is being poured today. Last word was the forms will come off on Tuesday and then they will pour the floor for the basement and the garage. Once all of this is completed John can start building on the house. He is both anxious and excited about getting started. With the forms in the ground and the house taking shape it sure looks smaller to me than the feeling we got from looking at the plans. It is a nice size house that will give us plenty of room when family and friends come over. We will have two guest bedrooms so there will be room for folks to stay and spend some time with us. Since my last up date the weather has been sunny and hot with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees and NO RAIN. The pictures below were taken over several days thus showing the progress over the period.

07/14/10 - On Monday the forms started comming off and by the end of the day on Tuesday the forms were all off and all of the waterproofing had been completed. On Wednesday they finished installing the sill plate ( boards on top of foundation that hold the house to the foundation) and had the foundation inspection. By the end of the day all of the foam insulation was installed in the crawlspace. I expect over the next couple of days the sub floor beams will go in and the things should go a little faster. Monday and Tuesday were both sunny but realitively cool compare to last week. We had some evening thunderstorms. Wednesday was sunny and warmer in high 80's.
07/15/10 –Today John and his crew John, Kevin & Chris, began building and installing the big beams that will support the floor joists. The basement floor was finished and it looks good. Today was another sunny and hot day in the 90’s. The forecast for next week is more of the same; sunny, hot and humid in the 90’s.

07/16/10 - Work on the house continues to progress with more big beams going in. Gary was there backfilling the garage and I guess he will start back-filling along the foundation over the next several days. Again, today was another sunny and hot day in the 90’s.
